Over the past 20 years, Open Access publishing has evolved from an ideal into a widely accepted practice in scholarly communications. But who funds OA, how it is implemented, and to what extent content is truly “open” can vary widely depending on the stakeholder—librarian, funder, publisher, or end user. How OA is defined and how widely it is adopted also differ among institutions, regions, and disciplines.  Attendees of this introductory workshop will learn about the history and evolution of OA, from the Budapest Open Access Initiative of 2002 to Plan S, from green and gold OA models to the latest transformative agreements. The workshop will also cover: • Brief history of OA and its position in the broader context of Open Science • Different types of OA, from green to diamond • Affordances and limitations of OA • OA considerations for different stakeholders  • An introduction to funding models: transformative agreements, pure publish agreements, memberships, single-payment ..."
