Summary:

"Data plays a key role in managing, monitoring, and evaluating open access publishing services. With a growing number of agreements, pressure on budget, funder requirements and other challenges, consortia and libraries need to find solutions to get grip on data and to make optimal use of it. The Dutch consortium UKB, worldwide frontrunner in open access and transformative agreements, developed a datahub that contains publication output, journal and contract information since 2018. The datahub is used to monitor current publishing contracts, trend analyses, portfolio management and to audit data that publisher provide for contract negotiations. In 2022 the consortium started to also collect information about funders, used licenses and article processing charges. Arjan Schalken, program manager UKB and responsible for developing and managing the datahub, will share insights in both added value and challenges. Arjan also reflects on the importance of initiatives like OAswitchboard to standardise metadata and connect platforms from publishers, consortia and institutions to support automation and scalability."
