Connotea Imports 2012-07-31

Summary:

According to a National Academies report released on March 10, 2011 ("National Security Implications of Climate Change for U.S. Naval Forces"), “Open access to previously classified Navy data..., have enabled advances in climate change research....A clear example of this benefit is the analysis of submarine upward-looking sonar, which shows that sea ice has been thinning in response to climate change.” (PS: I can't tell whether "open access" in this context means OA in our sense or simply declassified.)
