Summary:

"Nothing is easier than opening a blog and deposit their articles and other publications. While this may be interesting to follow the evolution of the thought of a researcher-e-se in particular, it is impractical to find a publication by a thematic Internet search. Institutional sites and identified as directories of free publications (known as Open Archives) will be the best ways to develop these documents. HAL is a French portal to accommodate all French publications, whatever their theme. However, a sub-portal Hal-SHS is specifically designed for Humanities and Social Sciences. An e-researcher may file individual publications in Hal, a laboratory may decide to create a 'collection', an institution may open a 'portal'. Some institutions may choose to set up an open 'institutional' archive, but the deposit is then 'pushed' in Hal to be also available (see SAM , open to Arts and Crafts Paris Tech archive). Note: the publication in an Open Archive is called ... Green' Open Access. Contrary to popular belief, it can be a peer-reviewed article "post-print" version: it depends on the political editor of the journal in which the article was published. These policies are available on the website Sherpa / Romeo  ..."
