Hi friend of PRX,

You saw Bill Iffrig in the Boston Marathon yesterday. He’s the older runner in orange who collapsed just as the first bomb went off, the concussion knocking him to the ground. Someone helped him up. Bill, remarkably unscathed, continued walking across the finish line. And he kept walking to his hotel!

A day after the horror of the Boston bombing, Iffrig’s spirit is an image of hope. Stunned and stumbling from this tragedy, we stand up, find our footing and keep going. That’s the inspiration of marathoners and why we cheer them through the pain.

Push on. -John
