"The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) Libraries seeks a service-focused individual to join the Pendergrass Library team as the university’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Liaison Librarian with liaison assignments to units within the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA), including UT Extension, UT AgResearch, and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR). The successful candidate will be committed to cultivating close working relationships that serve the diverse needs of faculty, students, staff, and other institutional stakeholders, connecting them to library resources and services that add value to the university’s land-grant mission.

This librarian collaborates effectively with Pendergrass team members to proactively identify, prioritize, implement, and assess library services. Within this collegial environment, this position provides leadership by identifying trends, determining service and instruction priorities, promoting UT Libraries services and collections, and advocating for new scholarly communication models in agriculture and natural resources. The successful candidate will also participate in library-wide liaison activities to develop a shared vision for library resources and services which align with the UTK Libraries’ Strategic Plan."

  • Build relationships with faculty, staff, and students in eight assigned UTIA departments, UT AgResearch, and UT Extension that support the university’s teaching, research, and Extension missions
  • Serve as the UTK Libraries’ subject specialist for agriculture and natural resources
  • Provide general and specialized research assistance for students, faculty and staff
  • Develop, implement, and assess innovative instruction, research guides, tutorials and user-consultation services
  • Develop and curate collections that support the university’s teaching, research, and Extension missions
  • Advocate for the services and resources that support new and emerging models of scholarly communication, including Open Access, Open Research, and Data Curation"
