"The Digital Scholarship Librarian promotes the institutional repository in the spirit of open access and enables the institution to capture the scholarly and creative academic output of our campus community. This position provides expertise and leadership on the library’s goals, objectives, and projects for educating the campus community about academic publishing, open access initiatives, intellectual and copyright issues and connections between information literacy and scholarly communication. Reporting to the Head of Digital Services, and in tandem with the equivalent librarian at the Virginia Institute for Marine Science, the position will work collaboratively with Digital Services and the Digital Services Advisory Group in developing a successful institutional repository strategy. This Digital Scholarship Librarian will be embedded in the Research Department and work collaboratively with subject liaisons to develop outreach initiatives for targeted projects and academic departments.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Develops strong relationships with library liaisons, faculty and academic departments to build WM Publish content, developing services in support of research, teaching and learning.

• Leads and develops education and outreach programs to provide information and current awareness related to scholarly communication, copyright, open access and author rights to the campus community.

• Day-to-day management of the Institutional Repository including establish and manage content submission operations and manage digital collections, , train library IR support staff and work with Content Services and VIMS on IR projects such as, retrospective digitization theses & dissertations.

• Collaborates and cooperates to develop a vision, goals and objectives regarding the direction and infrastructure of digital services; specifically as it relates to the IR, and scholarly communication.

• Develops metrics, collects and analyzes data. Prepares and presents clear & relevant reports and presentations that documents the IR usage development and outcomes of scholarly communication efforts and WM Publish."
