Summary:

"After orientation and training, the Graduate Student Research Assistant (RA) will:

  • Provide all levels of reference and user services at the user services desk, over the telephone, by email, and/or by chat (6 hours / week)
  • Participate in projects in the User Services Department, including creating and updating both web and print user guides and documentation, teaching classes and providing one-on-one help for citation management programs and literature databases, performing introductory research and writing on new services, supporting liaison work, and other projects as assigned. Assist with HSL Research Hub in supporting research and instruction in these areas (tracking research impact, preparing an NIH biosketch, managing data and publications, and complying with NIH and other federal public access policies), assist with program marketing and outreach, and work on special projects including assisting with Hub service planning, development and assessment. (10 hours / week)
  • Work on special projects in departments outside of User Services. Past projects have been in collection management, interlibrary loan, cataloging, scholarly communication, the Your Health blog, and usability studies of the HSL online presence. Upcoming areas could also include support for services for interdisciplinary research, open educational resources, and/or transformative teaching and learning, depending on the needs of the library and the interests/skills of the student (4 hours / week)"
