Visiting Assistant Professor, Scholarly Communications Librarian Job Opening in Edwardsville, Illinois - INSIGHT Into Diversity

"Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Library and Information Services invites applications from dynamic, proactive, and service-oriented candidates for the position of Scholarly Communications Librarian.

This is a temporary position and is available immediately. The appointment will last for a period of twelve months. In the future, the position may become a tenure-track position. At that point, a national search will take place.

The Scholarly Communications Librarian is a visiting assistant professor who reports to the Interim Dean of Library and Information Services (LIS). The Scholarly Communications Librarian will support the needs of scholarly communication and digital scholarship at SIUE. As a team member, the Scholarly Communication Librarian will work collaboratively with all LIS faculty during the year to complete defined projects in support of LIS’s goal of enhancing services related to Scholarly Communications at SIUE.

Primary Responsibilities

• Educates faculty and students regarding traditional scholarship and scholarly communication innovations, including open access, open educational resources (OERs), intellectual property rights and copyright, publishing agreements, and compliance.
• Articulates and promotes the importance of contributing scholarship and creative activities to the SIUE Scholarly Publications and Repository of Knowledge (SPARK).
• Instructs faculty members about assessing the scholarly impact of their research and scholarship through the use of journal, author, citation, and alternative metrics.
• Mediates, maintains, and updates SIUE's digital commons/institutional repository, SPARK, through the Bepress platform."
