Abstract: "O estudo objetivou implementar uma política de acesso aberto para a Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Para tanto, desenvolveu-se um estudo de caso na Escola de Arquitetura. A política de acesso aberto elaborada tem por intuito promover a visibilidade institucional e dar um retorno à sociedade do conhecimento que é gerado na Instituição. Considerando-se o tamanho da Universidade e a diversidade de sua produção científica, iniciou-se o estudo por meio da experiência da Escola de Arquitetura, uma das 23 unidades acadêmicas da Instituição. Utilizou-se como critério de escolha a especificidade da produção bibliográfica e a representatividade da Escola de Arquitetura para Minas Gerais e para o país. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva que utiliza como método o estudo de caso e como técnicas de investigação pesquisa bibliográfica, pesquisa documental, entrevistas, questionários e observação participante. Por meio desses instrumentos investigaram-se os principais conceitos e informações sobre o estado da arte do acesso aberto à informação no contexto nacional e internacional e qualificou-se a produção intelectual dos docentes da Escola de Arquitetura. Analisaram-se também os pontos de vista dos docentes e gestores sobre os benefícios proporcionados por um repositório institucional em suas práticas profissionais, as necessidades de informação da escola com relação à organização e disseminação da produção, o processo de internacionalização da produção da Escola, bem como a motivação para colaborar com o depósito da produção no repositório e a forma como deve ser inserida essa política na Universidade. Esta ação visou identificar elementos que apoiem o planejamento da organização da informação em um único repositório de acesso aberto à informação, o que possibilita maior visibilidade das produções científicas e culturais da Escola de Arquitetura e da UFMG. Os resultados da pesquisa nortearam as decisões e orientações para implementação do Repositório Institucional da UFMG e a construção de um modelo de política de informação."

English Translation (Google): "The study aimed to implement an open access policy for the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). For that, a case study was developed at the School of Architecture. The open access policy developed has the purpose of promoting institutional visibility and giving a return to the knowledge society that is generated in the Institution. Considering the size of the University and the diversity of its scientific production, the study was started through the experience of the School of Architecture, one of the Institution's 23 academic units. The specificity of bibliographic production and the representativeness of the School of Architecture for Minas Gerais and for the country were used as the criterion of choice. It is a descriptive research that uses as method the case study and as research techniques bibliographic research, documentary research, interviews, questionnaires and participant observation. Through these instruments the main concepts and information about the state of the art of open access to information in the national and international context were investigated and the intellectual production of the teachers of the School of Architecture was qualified. The views of teachers and managers on the benefits provided by an institutional repository in their professional practices, the information needs of the school regarding the organization and dissemination of production, the internationalization process of the School's production, and such as the motivation to collaborate with the deposit of production in the repository and the way in which this policy should be inserted in the University. This action aimed to identify elements that support the planning of the information organization in a single repository of open access to information, which allows greater visibility of the scientific and cultural productions of the School of Architecture and UFMG. The results of the research guided the decisions and guidelines for the implementation of the UFMG Institutional Repository and the construction of an information policy model."
