"Reporting to the Scholarly Communications Outreach Librarian, the Open Educational Resources (OER) Librarian will implement open and affordable course content adoption and creation at VCU through collaborative efforts with librarians, faculty, students, staff, administrators, and the wider open education community. The successful candidate will provide open and affordable course content advocacy, outreach, and education for a wide range of disciplines across both campuses of VCU, the entire VCU community, and the state of Virginia. The OER Librarian will guide faculty in the creation, dissemination, identification, adoption, and assessment of open and affordable course content; create educational resources and deliver educational workshops on open and affordable course content; document open and affordable course content use on campus, calculate student savings, and communicate benefits and impact to the broader university community.

The OER Librarian will actively contribute to the overall scholarly communications program of the VCU Libraries, which includes open access, open scholarship, author rights, scholarly publishing, research data management, and repositories. The OER Librarian is expected to be active professionally and to contribute to developments in the field. Faculty with the VCU Libraries are evaluated and promoted on the basis of job performance, scholarship, and professional development and service."
