The successful candidate will assist in building the Libraries digital services and collections combining the technical skills necessary to build digital collections and an institutional repository with the management skills necessary to enhance the services that require input and expertise from across the Libraries. The successful applicant will evaluate existing policies and best practices for the long-term preservation and access to digital materials while managing digital preservation processes to ensure long-term retention and access. This individual will work closely with Special Collections, Scholarly Communication, Cataloging, and Web Services/Digital Initiatives Departments to maintain the network of skills needed to provide digital collections, institutional repository, digital preservation and digital scholarship services to the Libraries and the University. Projects include digitization of materials from Special Collections, Congressional and Political Research, Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library and the Williams Collection of Lincolniana as well as the management and development of the institutional repository. The successful candidate will assist in enhancing partnerships with other university departments, universities and consortia. This position will assist in advising the University community and other external content creators on digital content lifecycle issues and strategies for digital content preservation. The successful candidate will assist in developing proposals for external funding for digital preservation projects. The position reports to the Dean of Libraries with digital preservation responsibilities and other appropriate duties/assignments administered by the Associate Dean."
