Summary:

"The National Institutes of Health is working with an international group of research funders to explore the value and feasibility of establishing a Central Service for preprints.

This is a unique opportunity to encourage sharing of preprints in the life sciences and to support the development of a core infrastructure to ensure the benefits of pre-printing are fully realized.

ASAPbio, a partner in the effort, has published a Request for ApplicationExit Link Disclaimer (RFA) to identify potential suppliers to build a Central Service for Preprints in the Life Sciences. The RFA closes April 30, 2017.

The consortium has set out a series of principlesExit Link Disclaimer that such a service would need to adopt. These principles cover issues such as governance, licensing, access, usability and sustainability."
