arXiv's TeX processing system receives significant upgrade - arXiv public wiki - Dashboard

"We are pleased to announce the successful deployment of our updated TeX processing and production system. The update incorporates TeX Live 2016 as well as numerous local add-ons that have been upgraded to the latest versions. The previous iteration of our TeX tree had not received any substantial updates since 2011, so this represents significant step forward. We expect that the effort we have invested in this update will allow us to incorporate future versions of TeX Live and other packages with greater ease and frequency. We are grateful to our submitters, administrative staff, and the wider TeX community for their support and patience during the development process!"
