DRCongo celebrates Open Data day on March 4, 2017 in Kinshasa | Open Data Day 2017

"The event brings together more than 50 participants from different fields of activities interested by open data in the democratic republic of Congo. Participants to the event included members from government, parliament members, researchers from universities, students, entrepreneurs and innovators.

The discussions during the event were based on the role of open data can contribute to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030 and how open data can contribute to enhance transparency and accountability in extractive industries in the democratic republic of Congo.

More than 15 speakers have made visual and oral presentations, pitch on open data to help participants to better understand open data and how open data can contribute to the development of the democratic republic of Congo. Through questions and responses, participants have build skills and knowledge on open data .

Finally, recommendations have been elaborated by participants to the event and the DRCongo Open Data initiative team that call DRCONGO’s government to promote Open data in the country."
