Summary:

"This year we celebrate a special Open Education Week 27-30 March in the Year of Open. All across our community of Members and beyond we come together to advocate for openness in Education and the important role Learning Technology can play in supporting it.

The recently launched ALT Strategy for 2017-2020 sets out openness as one of the core values of our Members and it also includes as one of the three strategic aims to ‘increase the impact of Learning Technology for public benefit’.

This aim was informed by feedback from Members throughout the strategy consultation and also in the Annual Survey, the survey results highlighting particular value placed by members on continued commitment in Open Access research and increasing the impact of practice via open publications and events. Results from the ALT Annual Surveys, including the raw data, are shared in the ALT Repositor. This news item containing more details.

We are also a supporter of the Copyright for Education campaign and respond to policy consultation on openness in Education across the UK.

We invite you to make the most of what our community does openly and get involved:

If you haven’t already done so, we also encourage you to explore the strategy slides, download the full text in PDF or Google docs. Visual content is available on Flickr under a Creative Commons licence.

Coming up the week after Open Education Week is OER17: The Politics of Open. This is one of three conferences ALT organises with its Members each year. While registration has now closed, you can find out more about the conference, watch selected sessions online and join in the conversation #oer17."
