"The Pennsylvania State University Libraries seeks applications and nominations for the position of Open Education Librarian. This is a tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Head of Library Learning Services. It is responsible for building partnerships and creating strategies to develop, assess, and maintain services to integrate open educational resources (OER) and affordable course content into the curriculum. A significant focus of the position will be on partnering with faculty, librarians, students, adapt instructional designers to create, adapt, and adopt open and affordable course content at the course and program level. Current initiatives include integrating open and affordable course content into newly revised General Education courses, licensing library e-books and streaming course content in support of courses, and creating a faculty development and support program. This position will also be responsible for setting the strategic direction for open and affordable course content initiatives throughout University Libraries.

Responsibilities: Provide leadership in collaboration with other faculty, instructional designers, and librarians to create faculty development and support services in support of open and affordable course content adoption; Work closely with subject librarians, instructional librarians, campus librarians, and support staff to provide comprehensive support for faculty and instructional designers interested in creating, adapting, or adopting open or affordable course content; Partner with subject librarians and campus librarians to support the development of instructional and outreach materials related to open and affordable course content; Evaluate effectiveness of open and affordable course content initiatives; Develop, implement, and facilitate workshops and presentations on the pedagogical practices related to OER; Actively participate in discussions related to open and affordable course content to ensure open communication and collaboration with relevant university units; Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Library Learning Services mission and strategic plan; Support the Libraries’ teaching and learning initiatives, including teaching general instruction sessions as needed or assigned; Provide support, consulting training, and communications to library faculty, staff, and units in order to enhance the instructional efficiency and learning outcomes of University Libraries; Pursue professional development to keep current on trends and developments in teaching, learning, and information literacy."
