Summary:

From Google Translate: "'The images themselves can teach us ... if an image is presented in a book, it's hard not to consider,' said Perry Nodelman, in his words about the images (1988). Picture books proved to be valuable educational tools, bringing multiple benefits related to the development of skills such as observation, recognition, interpretation and perception of self. In this regard, the project has developed IDPBC collection of picture books, offering visual stories about young protagonists facing diversity and explores issues of identity, diversity and inclusion. The consortium plans to develop teaching materials, following evidence-based education materials that will accompany the collections of picture books. Thus, preschool and primary school teachers will acquire knowledge and skills necessary to successfully use classroom collections and materials and make of their educational activity, one inclusive. More specifically, the project objectives are:

•  Setting up a collection of international books illustrated in a variety of languages;

•  Develop, evaluate and disseminate a series of strategies and activities based on picture books;

•  Publication and dissemination of guidelines to help integrate IDPBC illustrated books in the curriculum;

•  Providing training and professional development for pre- and in-service teachers;

•  Providing a platform such as Open Educational Resources (OER), allowing teachers to develop links with other teachers, with the primary focus on curriculum integration of picture books.

Consorțiul este format din șase organizații- partenere europene: Diversity Development Group (Lituania), Centre for Advancement of Research and Development in Educational Techonology LTD (CARDET, Cipru), Universitatea din Pitești (UPIT, România), Douka Ekpaideftiria – Palladion Lykeion Ekfpaideuthria (DOUKAS, Grecia), INNOVADE LI LTD (Cipru), Instituto Politecnico de Castelo Branco (Portugalia).

•  paltform online open access;

•  Implementation and case study.

Consortium working hard to complete online courses, which will include presentations, media objects and interactive assessments, thus helping students to learn new concepts, to practice skills already acquired and assists with the activities of reflection and self-evaluation. Teachers can access and use curriculum that is completed. Activities include five teaching units (15 lessons), which aims to promote inclusion through the use of picture books for children aged 4 to 12 years. It is also available IDPBC guide, which aims to support the integration of picture books in the curriculum, training their collections and involvement of students, parents and the entire community in the process."
