Summary:

"The joint RDA/Force11 BioSharing WG enjoyed a busy and productive RDA 9th Plenary. The aim of the WG is to firstly define guidelines to link information on databases, content standards and journal and funder data policies and then secondly, to implement them in the existing BioSharing portal (https://www.biosharing.org). The BioSharing WG is now at the end of its 18 month lifespan and as such has produced a set of recommendations. These are now available for community review here - http://dx.doi.org/10.15497/RDA00017. Please log in and comment on the recommendations. The more community feedback we receive the more useful the recommendation will be.

We were grateful to be invited to talk at two pre-meetings, the Interest Group on Agricultural Data (IGAD - https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/agriculture-data-interest-group-igad.html) pre-meeting, and the EUDAT Semantic Working Group Workshop. Both meetings were very informative and productive, and were a great start to a week of data sharing discussions. We then presented the BioSharing portal as an ELIXIR resource (as part of the ELIXIR-UK node contribution) in the joint BioSharing-ELIXIR Bridging Force (https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/elixir-bridging-force-ig.html) session on the Wednesday, before displaying the BioSharing policy registry in a joint session with the new Data Policy Standardisation and Implementation IG (https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/data-policy-standardisation-and-implementation). We rounded off our RDA 9th plenary activity with a plenary talk on the Thursday evening, a video of which can be found here (https://youtu.be/BTqWJmEPrFs?t=22m6s). All the slides from our 5 presentations can be found on our RDA WG page (https://www.rd-alliance.org/group/biosharing-registry-connecting-data-policies-standards-databases-life-sciences.html)."
