Summary:

"Working independently and with initiative, the institutional repository (IR) content manager (IRCM) position is a non-supervisory position that reports to the digital learning and scholarship team leader. The IRCM will envision and execute the future for the institutional repository (Digital Case), including setting policies and standards for ingesting and management of digitized content. This position is responsible for managing a balanced portfolio of three key activities in support of the programs of the institutional repository content manager: (1) digital research and data management support, (2) repository client relationship management, and (3) instruction regarding digital scholarship.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Monitor and implement trends in digital library and IR areas within academia, providing the executive leadership team with the necessary information to ensure CWRU is prepared for potential changes by continually investigating and providing KSL leadership with expertise about emerging new trends, risks, opportunities, and resources and recommending possible courses of action.
  2. Working with research services librarians, the scholarly communications manager, and others to identify and actively recruit content for the IR.
  3. Manage the digitization workflow for projects destined for the IR, including the coordination of efforts by other teams involved in the process, by establishing standards and deadlines for an efficient workflow.
  4. Provide guidance, troubleshoot, and maintain the development and evolution of the institutional repository and its role in supporting scholarly communication.
  5. Provide digital research and data management support for students and faculty, including meeting regularly with faculty and students to learn about their digital research and data management needs in context of the institutional repository.
  6. Manage client relationships by regularly promoting library resources and services, developing strategies and materials to promote curricular and academic goals, and conducting and analyzing user research through surveys, focus groups, etc. to ascertain the level of community satisfaction with library services.
  7. Develop partnerships with faculty to provide high-quality instruction on digital tools that support the teaching, learning, and research processes. Deliver high quality instruction using a variety of techniques and formats. Provide instruction on use of the institutional repository (IR) and data management processes associated with IR use.
  8. Create and develop the necessary partnerships to support the KSL institutional repository and related digital library services, including partnerships with ITS, colleges and academic departments, management centers, University circle institutions, and other regional and national academic institutions.
  9. Serve as an expert in institutional repositories for the CWRU academic community
  10. Work with other team members to find new ways visualize and interact with the contents of the IR
  11. Lead the Digital Case committee monthly meetings, using these meetings to identify digital case priorities and to discuss policies and procedures.
  12. Supervise and train DLSS students on the digitization standards and workflow processes to contribute to IR projects
  13. Work with other team members to ensure Digital Case employs best practices regarding digital scholarship and scholarly communications."
