"Located in the Paul V. Galvin Library at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), the Digital Scholarship Librarian will provide guidance and support for digital initiatives and academic publishing, open access, and scholarly communication opportunities. This position provides service, technical expertise, and leadership for the library’s initiation of effective collaborations with campus stakeholders. The Digital Scholarship Librarian will promote and mediate the use of IIT’s Institutional Repository and Open Journal Systems. This position identifies and supports innovative models for IIT libraries’ digital stewardship, and serves as project coordinator for cross-cutting initiatives, such as open publishing, digital humanities projects, and online exhibits. Key Responsibilities:

1) Provides engaging, responsive, and user-centered services in order to connect the IIT community to the resources they need for digital scholarship and publishing. This position will provide service, technical expertise, training, and support for tools and practices used by faculty and researchers engaged with digital scholarship and academic publishing, open access, and scholarly communication opportunities.

2) Mediates the use of IIT’s institutional repository, and develops, implements, and coordinates access and activities related to the promotion and use of the library’s digital initiatives. Collaborates with User Experience Librarian, Systems Librarian, and other library colleagues to provide leadership and vision in planning and implementing future digital initiatives.

3) Advance the scholarly mission of research, teaching and learning through the successful use and integration of emerging technologies and open resources. Actively promotes collaborative scholarly engagement with other university departments and other external partners.

4) Serves as project coordinator for cross-cutting initiatives in academic scholarship and publishing such as open publishing, digital humanities projects, and online exhibits. Identifies and supports innovative models for IIT libraries’ digital stewardship. Seeks grants and other fundraising opportunities when appropriate.

5) Represents IIT Libraries in campus, regional, and national digital initiatives. Pursues personal professional development and contributes to the profession through local and national professional and scholarly activities."
