Summary:
"How can I one day utilize OERs as a teacher librarian? Of course, OERs may be utilized for library instruction. Moreover, because searching for OERs can be an overwhelming and daunting task for teachers, I, as a school librarian, could – with teacher input and careful evaluation – develop digital curations of OERs, including those created by teachers. Teacher librarians can ensure that selected OERs are standards-aligned and are organized into appropriate units (Welz, 2017). I would also endeavor to be a campus leader in the OER initiatives movement, gaining staff support, joining OER committees (such as to identify a preferred and user-friendly OER platform), and providing professional development opportunities regarding OERs. Furthermore, because students require electronic devices to access digital OERS, I would be interested in spearheading a 1-to-1 pilot program involving Chromebooks, iPads, or other devices."
