"In order to address the emerging societal challenges within the agri-food sector in the context of big data, a shift in mindsets and research culture is required to seize the opportunity of Open Science. The integration of open research and experimental data with farmers’ local knowledge, and their exploitation by data infrastructures will allow the significant advancement of related research in terms of tools, content, practices and proofs of concept. It can thereby increase creativity and innovation throughout the entire public and private R&D chain in the agri-food area."
