"old Spring Harbor Laboratory, located on the North Shore of Long Island, has an immediate opening for a scientifically qualified Content Lead for bioRxiv, its rapidly growing preprint server for the life sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the interactions with authors who submit manuscripts to bioRxiv, affiliates who assess manuscript suitability for posting, readers who comment on posted manuscripts, and correspondents with questions about bioRxiv’s procedures and policies.

Additional Responsibilities Include: - Execute established policies and procedures for the acceptance and rejection of manuscripts submitted to bioRxiv - Coordinate with the bioRxiv founders on modifications and additions to established policies and procedures - Work with the Product Lead and other members of the bioRxiv team to implement changes to policies and procedures - Work with the bioRxiv founders and staff of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative on the technical development of the bioRxiv server and the promotion of its activities - Supervise the team responsible for in-house screening of manuscripts submitted to bioRxiv and participate in the process - Resolve queries from the in-house screening staff about the suitability of specific submissions - Recruit and educate affiliate scientists responsible for the screening of manuscripts and coordinate their activities - Communicate with authors who appeal decisions made on their manuscripts - Respond to correspondence concerning posted manuscripts  - Moderate submitted comments for on-site posting - Answer queries submitted to the bioRxiv helpdesk concerning the server’s procedures and policies - Liaise with bioRxiv’s Product Lead on interactions with journals, publishers, and manuscript submission systems, as well as with the bioRxiv hosting platform and other vendors, on setups related to bioRxiv’s various partnership programs - Field questions from other in-house staff on a wide range of bioRxiv content-related processes - Liaise with in-house staff (product, marketing, finance, etc.) and outside vendors on a host of new and ongoing bioRxiv work  - Work closely with the bioRxiv team and external collaborators to plan and implement new policies, functions, and features of the service - Give occasional public talks about bioRxiv"
