Summary:

"Open access to the data in the digital world has no doubt made digital social research easier, time saving and economical. Moreover, researchers who are engaged and active in the online digital platforms can have the opportunities to explore their new research interest and the possibilities for collaborations and sponsorship. However, the digitalization of the data and information is not fully out of the clutch of commodification and capitalisation. Data and information are being the new capital in the digital market and the tendency to acquire the data out of cost and selling those in to the digital platform is one of drawback of this digital colonisation. Accessing the unauthorised data through the illegal way is getting more rampant and data stealing and attacks are becoming more destructive which is affecting both the attackers and victimised because of the economic, social and legal consequences."
