OA, the monograph, and the humanities and social sciences – Macquarie Library Open Access week

"Though there may be a range of opinion about what the future of the scholarly monograph is and the role OA will play, there is consensus on the ongoing importance of the book in HASS scholarship, and of the need for a model of book publishing which maximises the accessibility of this enduring form for all readers. Initiatives such as those above, are playing an important role in enabling this.

Libraries are actively involved in developing new models to support OA book publishing with initiatives such as Knowledge Unlatched which will be looked at in another post, so keep an eye out for that."
