Soziologie als offene Wissenschaft (Sociology as open science)

Summary:

From Google's English:

'Thomas Hinz identifies two key challenges for the future of the subject: "Sociology must acknowledge that scientific progress is only through cumulation. Only when several studies with different data and methods come to the same conclusion, we have a reliable and significant for society knowledge. "On the other hand, sociology must understand more than ever, the consequences of data-driven processes for the development of society. It is about a sound and sober assessment of the impact of digitization on people's lives, with all their opportunities and risks. But it is also about the meaningful use of the newly emerging data sets for sociological research itself. Finally, sociology must make its methodology itself as transparent as possible. Thomas Hinz: "Sociology must become an open science in order to be credible again in the future. And that's exactly what we need a new Academy of Sociology. It is designed to help improve the quality of research and, at the same time, build a bridge between research and society's legitimate expectations of self-education."'
