Reflections on APS 18: open science, transparency, and inclusion

Kirstine's bookmarks 2018-06-06

Summary:

The reward structure in science is broken, which is responsible for many of the problems we are facing in psychology. We are focusing on sexy over rigorous science, on quantity over quality of publications, on awarding honors to specific individuals when research is always a collaborative effort. Such a system incentivizes questionable research practices such as p-hacking, it rewards cheating, and fosters a competitive instead of a collaborative environment.
