EU-Copyright-Reform: Bibliotheken gegen Upload-Filter und Leistungsschutzrecht (EU copyright reform: libraries against upload filters and ancillary copyright)

Kirstine's bookmarks 2019-03-19

Summary:

The German Library Association (dbv) has entered the phalanx of critics into core clauses of the planned EU copyright reform. Thus, the association sees a contradiction to "professional ethical values" - both Article 11, which creates an ancillary copyright for press publishers on the Internet, and Article 13, which provides for a stricter liability regime for content uploads on platforms. The free access to information with a "wide range of knowledge, ideas, media content and opinions" is threatened.
