LIBER Webinar: Data Curation From A Practical Perspective

Kirstine's bookmarks 2019-12-03

Summary:

There are many guides, checklists and workshops that address the services and skills needed for effective data curation. However, what researchers think they need, and our assumptions about what they need in a real-world data situation can often be very different.

Every institution has an infrastructure with unique challenges, and every discipline has its own concerns that need to be addressed.

In this webinar, Juliane Schneider relates stories of some of her real-life adventures as a metadata consultant for research data, and the strategies she used to take data from laptops and un-networked servers into repository-ready form.

The webinar is organised by LIBER's Research Data Management (RDM) Working Group. The hosts are Dr Birgit Schmidt — a LIBER Executive Board member and chair of the Research Infrastructure Steering Committee — and Rob Grim, chair of the RDM Working Group.
