Summary:

[Google translate] Open access to knowledge, the challenge of universities for their democratization

Open access to knowledge not only makes it more democratic and inclusive, but also increases the visibility of research and converts advances in science into improvements for society as a whole, so the challenge for universities in Latin America and the Caribbean lies precisely in working more collaboratively and in a coordinated manner for a more equitable system.

These ideas were shared by the participants of the Open Access and Democratization of Knowledge roundtable, Félix Nieto, Dominique Babini, Alejandra Nardi, Marcus Tomasi and Eduardo Peñalosa Castro, rectors of the National University of San Luis, Argentina; CLACSO; the National University of Cordoba; the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil; and the Autonomous Metropolitan University, respectively.
