Summary:

AAS Open Research: "A platform for rapid, author-led publication and open peer review for researchers supported by AAS and programs supported through its funding platform, AESA.

What is it? AAS Open Research is a scholarly publishing platform offering the immediate publication of research. The platform supports research integrity, reproducibility and transparency by using an open access model that incorporates open, post-publication peer review, alongside an open data policy.

How will it work? All authors funded by a qualifying program will be able to publish any research or data they wish to share. The funding programs eligible to publish are: Grand Challenges Africa, DELTAS Africa, CIRCLES Fellows, H3Africa, AESA RISE Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, STEM Education and fellows of the African Academy of Sciences, including Affiliate Fellows and Honorary Fellows. The platform will use the same publication model that has been established for F1000Research, Wellcome Open Research and Gates Open Research.

Why are we doing this? AAS Open Research will ensure that any research funded by AAS affiliated and funded programs, ranging from traditional impactful research to small, negative or confirmatory findings, can be published without barriers and in a way, that supports reproducibility and the AAS’s Open Access policy...."
