Summary:

"The 2017-2018 Open Educational Resources (OER) Task Force is the newest committee at Terra State Community College.  It is chaired by Jill Caton, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Health Information Technology and Healthcare Administration, and Paul Passalacqua, Instructor of Biological Sciences.  Included on the committee are Amy Drongowski, Terrie Hopkins, Jennifer Humburg, Nick Jarrett, Dave Redett, Michelle White and Tom Adamich. According to Caton, Terra State was part of one of the Ohio Innovations grants given to about twenty Ohio community colleges to look into how students can be aided in the cost of textbooks.  “Right now, we are trying to educate ourselves on what we are about and what we need to do.”  Caton, along with co-chair Passalacqua and committee member Terrie Hopkins attended workshops this past fall held by the Open Textbook Network (OTN).  “The focus was on the cost of textbooks and what can be done to make it more affordable for students,” says Caton.  Passalacqua added, “Our next initiative is to try and hold a workshop at Terra State next semester.”..."
