Summary:

Google English: "I take this opportunity to share a review that I included in my thesis about the open educational resources that are so widely spoken and important in the field of education.

The term OER, acronym for Open Educational Resources or in Spanish Open Educational Resources (REA); appeared for the first time in 2002 in the forum "Experts to Assess Impact of Open Courseware for Higher Education" organized by UNESCO, defining it as "Provision of educational resources in open, allowed by the technologies of communication and information, for consultation, use and adaptation of the user community for non-commercial purposes "(UNESCO, 2002). The most used definition for OER has been "Digitalised materials offered free of charge and open to educators, students and self-taught for its use and reuse in teaching, learning and research" (Hylén, 2006).

The provision of open educational resources, enabled by information and communication technologies, for consultation, use and adaptation by a community of users for non-commercial purposes

UNESCO is committed to the OER launching on March 1, 2011 the open educational resource platform REA. Another sign of interest on the part of UNESCO is the signing of the "Paris OER Declaration" with recommendations to the member states, to the extent of their possibilities and competences, on the promotion of the use of REOs and ICTs (UNESCO, 2012).

Another sign that points to the importance of OER is the OECD's report "Free knowledge and open educational resources" where the reasons for individuals and institutions to use, produce and share this type of resources are offered. arguments for governments to support related projects and involve institutions (OECD and Extremadura, 2008)

With the emergence of the concept of OER and its generalization, a new range is achieved in the world of education, from more complex and hermetic units such as courses or subjects to fragments of these, which allow greater adaptation and therefore reuse , thus acquires a very important role in the "Life-long learning" or continuous training.

The OER also means a greater educational offer with less effort on the part of the teacher to be able to reuse the work already done by others, leading to the stimulation of learning and collaboration networks among teaching professionals, creating learning communities (Liddo, Buckingham Shum, McAndrew and Farrow, 2012, Fidalgo-Blanco, Sein-Echaluce Lacleta, Borrás Gené and García Peñalvo, 2014).
