Summary:

"The UB Libraries has become one of the newest members of HathiTrust, a partnership of more than 130 academic and research libraries aimed at preserving and ensuring access to millions of scholarly records. The HathiTrust digital library provides UB faculty, staff and students with searchable access to 15 million volumes of online books and other scholarly materials, including 6 million volumes available in the public domain for downloading, printing and saving. “This vast corpus of digital texts scanned from libraries around the world will enhance research and teaching on campus, and will also empower researchers working in burgeoning areas of digital scholarship with text-mining and analytics capabilities,” says Charles Lyons, associate university librarian. UB is the first SUNY institution to join HathiTrust, and planning is underway to digitize materials from the UB Libraries’ collections for contribution to the collective digital library. Launched in 2008, HathiTrust works to collect, preserve and digitize the cultural record to ensure that materials are available for future research and scholarship. More information about the HathiTrust and how to access materials is available online."
