Summary:

"Our Mission

#DataCurationNetwork

The Data Curation Network will enable institutions to better support researchers that are faced with a growing number of requirements to ethically share their research data. (read our approach)

The Data Curation Network project brings together the perspectives of research data librarians, academic library administration, and data curation subject experts from nine major academic institutions and general-purpose or disciplinary data repositories to launch a Data Curation Network. Data repository and curation services are currently provided by expert staff at each of our institutions (read more) to prepare and maintain research data in ways that make it findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR). Sharing our data curation staff across DCN partner institutions will enable academic libraries to collectively, and more effectively, curate a wider variety of data types (e.g., discipline, file format, etc.) that expands beyond what any single institution might offer alone.

Our vision for the Data Curation Network project in the next 3-5 years:

By using standards-driven data curation techniques the Data Curation Network will become a valued and trusted entity (among researchers, publishers, funding agencies, and beyond) with practical and transparent workflows and infrastructure.

With a proven and appealing value-proposition, the Data Curation Network will expand into a sustainable entity that grows beyond our initial partner institutions.

Datasets curated by the Data Curation Network are used to advance research and education in ways that are measurably of greater reuse value than non-curated data.

By sharing tools, providing a pipeline for training data curators, and promoting data curation practices across the profession the Data Curation Network will build an innovative community that enriches capacities for data curation writ large.

The partner institutions in the current phase of the Data Curation Network are below and see more details on our project personnel page."
