Summary:

Google English: "Open Knowledge Foundation at the German Foundation Day 2018

The German Foundation Day is organized by the Association of German Foundations every year as an information and networking service for its members. This year's edition was themed Update! - Foundations and Digitization from 16 to 18 May in Nuremberg.

Three out of five categories of this year's event were

# DST18_OffeneDaten

# DST18_Transparenz

# DST18_Partizipation

So exactly fitting for us! From our own experience, we know how difficult and difficult it is to communicate these topics and how long the implementation of demands is needed. So our motto fits: We - and many other foundations - drill thick boards....

Digitization has what it takes to revive our crisis-ridden democracy. It can help to make political action more transparent - keyword Open Data - and to increase the participation possibilities of civil society actors.

Solveig Schröder and Timo Lindelius, the organizers of the OKLAB "Code for Hamburg", and Julia André of the Körber Foundation were excited to discuss.

# DST18_Transparenz

According to one of the themes of the German Foundation Day # DST18_Transparenz we invited the participants of the foundation day to "Transparency drilling". This was very well received: 28 people tried drilling with a 250 year old drill. Even though the yield of 51% of the trunk length (the drill in the picture shows the drilling depth) still has room for improvement, we hope that some more transparency projects will be implemented by the next foundation day 2019. The demand for transparency can, at the beginning, make you feel insecure or hurt...."
