Summary:

Google English: "Sophie Schneider goes to the Open Access Days 2018. With support from LIBREAS

Sophie Schneider goes to Graz. Anyway, as LIBREAS we hope that she does. And we support them with joy and with everything we can offer, that is our travel scholarship. Because her letter of motivation for the travel scholarship we gave out for visiting the Open Access Days 2018 convinced us greatly. As a prospective library manager, she is currently studying at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, events like these are by nature more than just a conference visit to keep up with current discussions. From our own experience, we can report that students with such trips can greatly expand and sometimes fundamentally change their view of the library world and its possible position in it. It is therefore a great honor for us to open this door within our means, now also Sophie Schneider. Because this is the motivation behind the LIBREAS travel grant: People who might otherwise not easily have the means to travel to a conference, to assist in the participation. If you want to stretch it big, it is also an investment in the library system, the farsighted, committed, competent personalities always needed and currently of course especially.

In her letter of application, Sophie Schneider formulated the question:

"Where can we, as library and information scientists, engage the academic community in the publication process?

support, perhaps even with the development of appropriate structures and technologies? "

The open access days at Graz University of Technology are just the right place to discuss this year.

If you would like to get into contact with Sophie Schneider beforehand, you should contact her in advance via Twitter: https://twitter.com/BibWiss. We also recommend a look at her weblog. And we look forward to a lively coverage in September, which in any case make us as visible as possible at this point.

In addition, we hope that we will make an important contribution to the LIBREAS e.V.'s travel grant, namely for the "promotion of library and information science communication". Further suggestions, ideas and, of course, support are as always very welcome. The upcoming Bibliothekartag / Bibliothekstag 2018 in Berlin also offers the opportunity to get in contact with us personally. Otherwise, always feel free to contact us via mail@libreas-verein.eu, redaktion@libreas.eu or on Twitter: @libreas."
