Open Access Repositories in India: growth, overview of system and policy implementation

The paper provides an overview of open access repository (OAR) movement as a Green path to open access (OA) throughout the World with reference to India. The main objective of the paper is to give a broad look at the current state of deployment of OARs in India and to discuss problems and prospects of Indian OARs in respect of their policy documents. Recommendations and best practice guidelines at national and international level have been consulted in order to select the criteria for evaluation of repositories. Finally, key findings along with suggestions have been proposed for the development of Indian OARs in global context.
