Summary:

Job Description  

Boston College’s seeks a Data Services Librarian at the O’Neill Library, 140 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467. Position Responsibilities: Provide advice and support for projects related to data collection, cleaning, analysis, curation, documentation, and management and establish working relationships with stakeholders across the university research enterprise. Provide assistance and training sessions on all of these topics, including the use of software tools and testing new technologies, and present to groups across campus about the Libraries’ data services.  Be up-to-date on trends, sources, and issues in open and public scholarship, including open access, data, education, and open source tools.  Contribute to the design and implementation of a sustainable service model for data services and digital projects.

Salary range: $72,904-$78,300

 

Requirements

 

 

 

Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science, or other closely related data-intensive research field, or foreign equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in the Job Offered, or as a reference or research librarian in an academic or scientific environment.  Experience, which may be gained concurrently, to include at least 6 months’ experience in the following:  -providing data curation, management, cleaning and mining services;  -using data and related technologies to support teaching or research;  -using data repository platforms; and  -working with numeric data in an academic, scientific or corporate environment
