Summary:

We seek an associate program manager for an 18 month contract term who, working closely with the project lead and assistant program manager, will conduct research to inform our programming, disseminate learning with the open community, and provide related communications support. We are looking for someone who has research experience, is at ease translating scholarly research for non-academic audiences, has familiarity with open education, and has excellent written communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess some faculty development experience (for example, designing and offering workshops, consulting with faculty on tools, etc.), and must be comfortable representing Rebus across a variety of public-facing avenues. We are looking for an organized and focused individual, ready to coordinate with a small team of passionate, mission-driven people. This is a new role, so there is a great opportunity to shape and grow the position.

Responsibilities

This role has split time between supporting programming, conducting and disseminating research, and related communications and marketing responsibilities.

Research

Rebus Community resources and program curriculum is built on evidence-based practices for faculty development. In our work, we aim to make the learning experience accessible. As such, we also share our findings openly for others in the community to use. In this role, you will:

  • Create new openly licensed guides to share Rebus’ insights and methods
  • Update existing guides to reflect changes in program, advances in the field, and alignment with core values

Programming

We are continually developing new courses, services, and resources to support the creation, adoption, and use of OER. Working with the project lead and assistant program manager, you will:

  • Use collected research to update and improve program curriculum
  • Support the development of new resources, courses, and modules with insight from research collected
  • Assist the Rebus Community team to ensure the smooth running of programs
  • Step in, on occasion, to lead trainings on topics related to OER, open education practices, and open publishing

Communications and marketing

The success of our programming and other community efforts depends on sharing responsibility across communications and marketing tasks. Rebus offers a breadth of services for the open community, each with a unique value and purpose that needs to be clearly articulated. Working with the team, you will:

  • Highlight high-impact stories and narratives to share on social media channels
  • Compose blog posts to be featured on the Rebus Community website
  • Support the delivery of our monthly newsletter
  • Prepare and present marketing materials and reports relating to programs (including projects, participants, and alumni)
  • Provide input on marketing strategies to the project lead

At a rapidly evolving and responsive organization, work may change and other duties may be assigned.

About you

  • You have at least 1 year of experience with either research, faculty development, communications, marketing, or relevant experience/certification
  • You have a strong public service orientation with the ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, and others working in higher education
  • You have experience with writing guides, newsletters, or other marketing material
  • You are an excellent written and verbal communicator
  • You have a deep ongoing commitment to equity

Additional candidate assets (most of the following should apply):

  • You enjoy telling stories about people, projects, or initiatives
  • You are creative and excited to try new ways of doing things
  • You are comfortable collecting information and using evidence-based research to present reports and make decisions
  • You are familiar using Google Suite, Discourse, Pressbooks, Mailchimp, Adobe InDesign, and Twitter

  • You take initiative and are eager to grow into a leadership role
  • You are mission-driven and fuelled to improve the educational sector

We are looking for people with a range of experiences and ideas, who can bring fresh perspectives and guidance to our team. Even if you do not check off all the above points, we encourage you to apply. Give us a sense of who you are and why you want to work with us. Your application will be given the care and consideration it dese
