The University of Surrey’s Open Research Position Statement publicly supports the values of openness, transparency and reproducibility in research. Open Research encompasses a wide range of practices that aim to make research openly available, transparent and, where this applies, reproducible. Open research practices are not all-or-nothing: they are closely tied to research discipline and can include making publications open access, engaging with innovative open publishing and open peer review models, making research data and code easily understood and reusable by others, pre-registering research studies, engaging the public in the research process and any other initiative that contributes to openness and integrity in research. Do you want to learn more about what Open Research means for you? Do you want to find out why transparency is important for research? Are you interested in the incentives, barriers and challenges of championing open research? These questions and more will be answered at the Surrey Open Research and Transparency Showcase, 1pm to 5pm, 4th March. Join us to hear about how our researchers employ open, transparent and reproducible approaches across departments and disciplines. Case studies are drawn from the disciplines of Politics, Law, Biology, Health Science, Artificial Intelligence and Business Studies to name a few. The Showcase will be opened by Professor David Sampson, Surrey’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research and Innovation and will include presentations from applicants to this year's Surrey Open Research Awards.
