Summary:

"The Scripta series was inaugurated in 1967 with the aim to publish papers presented at conferences and symposia organised by the Donner Institute for Research in Religious and Cultural History. It addresses an international readership and approaches the field of religion from a broad perspective, engaging contributors from different theoretical and methodological traditions. So far 25 volumes have been published in print, a complete register is found at: http://www.abo.fi/forskning/scripta. The articles published in Scripta are indexed in ATLA Religion Database published by the American Theological Library Association (Chicago) and the series is well known for its high academic standard all over the world. In its earlier days, Scripta was published with intervals of three to five years between the volumes. Since 2007, the series has produced one volume per year with selected papers from our conferences. Scripta has previously been published in printed form but from 2014 onwards, we will publish it as an open access e-publication and print only a limited print-on-demand edition. During 2014, the Donner Institute will complete the digitalization of previous issues so that all volumes will be available online through this open access publishing platform. In its new digital version, Scripta will provide immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. At the same time, we want to strengthen the academic standard of Scripta by implementing a more formal double-blind peer-review process for the articles published in the series. In order to facilitate this assessment and to secure the academic standard of our publication also in the future, we are now seeking to appoint an editorial board consisting of prominent scholars of religion from around the world, representing a wide variety of subfields, theoretical and methodological approaches and cultural contexts within the study of religion ..."
