Summary:

"EIFL is proud to be a member of the Open Policy Network (OPN), which was recently launched this May. OPN is a coalition of organizations and individuals working to support the creation, adoption, and implementation of policies that require that publicly funded resources are openly licensed resources. There is a pressing need for education, advocacy, and action to see a positive shift in supporting open licensing for publicly funded materials.  OPN will share information amongst its members, recruit new advocates, and engage with policymakers worldwide. As EIFL has long been committed to advocating nationally and internationally for the adoption of open access policies and mandates to research literature, membership of OPN was a logical step, and we hope that our membership can offer relevant contributions. The first project of OPN is the Institute of Open Leadership, aimed at training new leaders in education, science, and public policy fields on the values and implementation of openness in licensing, policies, and practices. Applications are now open (until June 30). OPN is free to join and anyone is welcome. More information on the Open Policy Network is available at their website, Google group, Twitter, and Facebook ..."
