" ... I suspect not everyone is familiar with PubMed's more advanced features. For instance, have you ever wondered how your PI or one of those enthusiastic Post-docs knows all about the latest papers just days after they were published? Saved searches and email notifications is the answer ... One way to do this is to start by signing in to NCBI(on the top right of PubMed) and continue with saving a search (follow the link just below the search box in the search results page). Set an email alert (once a week is enough) and you are all set ... But keeping those emails is neither convenient nor interactive in the long run. Lets say one of these results is really interesting and relevant for your research. And you want to save it in a way that will remain accessible for you, years after, and linked to the specific project you are working on that ensures specificity and relevance. Here is where you will find your Labguru lab management software account very useful - you can add your papers, upload their PDF and share them with your colleagues in one central reference library. You can save your thoughts regarding the paper and share it with your PI and lab members by adding a comment. You can link it to a protocol you based on the methods section of the paper. You can tag the paper with keywords to quickly find it later when you will need. Labguru is a great tool for organizing and managing your papers, especially in keeping them linked to your research at the right places; a far better alternative than a heap of old messages in your mail account.  We here at BioData know you spend a lot of time in PubMed and we want to introduce you to a useful little tool that will allow you to easily add papers to your Labguru account while you are browsing PubMed. All you need to do is add the PubMed import bookmarklet to your browser's bookmark toolbar and then click it whenever you find an interesting paper. You can find the bookmarklet in the Papers section of you Labguru account. Here's a short video that shows exactly how to use this feature ..."
