Funding available to publish in Open Access journals | University of Virginia Library Data Management Consulting Group

Summary:

"Newly established by the U.Va. Library, the Open Access Fund is intended to support U.Va. authors who wish to publish their research in an open access journal.  These journals make peer-reviewed articles freely and immediately available to anyone with access to the Internet.  This may increase the visibility of scholarship and lead to greater research impact.  While business models vary, some open access journals charge authors an article processing fee to subsidize publishing costs.  U.Va. authors who lack funds to pay this fee but wish to publish in open access journals are encouraged to apply for assistance from the Open Access Fund upon article acceptance.  Successful applicants will have funds disbursed on their behalf by the Library directly to the publisher. Eligible authors include all faculty, staff and students served by the U.Va. Library system.  Authors may receive up to $2000 per article and a maximum of $3000 a year.  All successful applicants will also agree to deposit a copy of their articles in Libra, U.Va.’s institutional repository.
