"The book 'Open Access Indicators and Scholarly Communications in Latin America' is coordinated by Juan Pablo Alperin, Dominique Babini and Gustavo Fischman. This book is the result of a proyect carried by UNESCO (Bhanu Neupane) in partnership with the Public Knowledge Project (PKP); the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO); the Network of Scientic Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal (RedALyC); Africa Journals Online (AJOL); the Latin America Social Sciences School-Brazil (FLACSO-Brazil); and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO)  ... Aside from presenting an assessment of the use of open access resources in the region, the book 'Open Access Indicators and Scholarly Communications in Latin Americaexplores three of the main open access repositories in Latin America and the Caribbean: SciELO, Redalyc and CLACSO.  Hence, this book highlights the contributions of the region to the creation and distribution of scholarly production, and to the construction of more equitable access environment for education ..."
