"The House Jan. 14 approved a bill that includes a provision exempting some companies using an open data formatĀ  to report their financial statements to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The measure called 'The Promoting Job Creation and Reducing Small Business Burdens Act' (H.R. 37) passed 271-154 and now goes to the Senate for its consideration. The bill mainly deals with changes to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Last week, the House tried to fast track the bill, but was defeated when it failed to get the two-thirds majority needed. (The House also passed the bill last September in the last Congress.) ..."
