Funding Open Access for Post-Grant FP7 Publications - Library & Archives Service blog

Summary:

"A pilot will be launched in spring 2015 which will provide funding to cover all or part of the post-grant open access publishing costs associated with projects funded under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). This pilot is necessary as opportunities to publish often occur near the end of a project, or after it has finished, meaning wider access to funded research may be curtailed. Before this pilot publishing FP7 authors could only claim open access charges during their project. Therefore €4,000,000 is being made available to cover gold publication costs up to 2 years after the end of a FP7 funded project. Up to 3 peer-reviewed research articles per project may be funded and other peer-review publications will be considered. This fund will be managed by LIBER, the Association of European Research Libraries, who will work closely with the European Commission, OpenAIRE, publishers, libraries and relevant institutions to define guidelines and workflows for the pilot. The main goals of the pilot, as defined by OpenAIRE, are: •to make it easier for researchers to access funding for open access publication; •to define workflows for the processing of research outputs released via the Gold Open Access route, including guidelines for Article Processing Charge (APC) management; •to align these with emerging national and institutional mechanisms. This pilot is part of the EU-funded OpenAIRE2020 project Further details will be added when the pilot begins. In the mean time you can contact Natalia Manola, OpenAIRE Project Manager or Pablo de Castro, Open Access Officer, LIBER for more information."
