"The Open eBooks initiative was announced by President Obama at a ConnectED event that was held at Anacostia Library in Washington, DC on April 30, 2015. Under the thoughtful guidance and coordination of The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the initiative is a partnership between three existing nonprofits–DPLA, the New York Public Library, and First Book–and is made possible by the generous donations of publishers.
